Furlong reads your running history from Apple Health. If you've just installed it, allow Health access when asked — it will import your past runs and take a moment to work out where you are. If you've never recorded a run on this phone, there's nothing yet to read; the app will start learning from your first one.
That's the app doing its job. Most running injuries don't come from a bad run — they come from a good week stacked on another good week, before your body has caught up. Furlong watches the rate of change, not just the total, so it eases off before you feel it rather than after. Tap “Where did this come from?” on any recommendation to see the reasoning.
Of course. It's a suggestion, not a lock. Log the run and the plan adjusts around what you actually did.
Settings → Long run day. The plan rebuilds around your choice.
Settings → Race. Add the distance and date, and the plan works backwards from it, including the taper.
Record it on the run in History. Furlong will hold the plan while it settles, and it will tell you plainly when something needs a physiotherapist rather than a shorter route. It won't try to treat you — no app can.
No. A watch gives it more to work with (resting heart rate, HRV, sleep), but the app works from your run history alone and treats missing signals as neutral.
Completely. Furlong has no account, no server, and no analytics — it contains no networking code at all. Everything stays on your phone. See our Privacy Policy.
Settings → Delete all data. Deleting the app also removes everything.
Settings → Demo data. It loads 18 months of synthetic history so you can explore every screen, and you can switch it off again at any time.
Email us at the address above with your device model and iOS version and we'll help.
Furlong offers training guidance, not medical advice. Pain that persists, worsens, or changes how you move belongs to a doctor or physiotherapist — not to an app.
